If you’re interested in volunteering with a horticulture NGO or Producer Organization (PO), here are the key steps to guide you:
Start by exploring local horticulture Producer Organizations (POs), community-based NGOs, and agricultural groups. Search online, visit local extension services, or reach out to the Horticulture Association of Bhutan to discover opportunities that align with your interests.
Before applying, learn about the mission, values, and ongoing programs of each organization. Visit their websites, social media platforms, or contact them directly for updated information on how volunteers are involved.
Determine what types of volunteer roles are available. Some positions may involve gardening, training farmers, supporting events, or helping with administrative tasks. Roles may vary in terms of time commitment and required experience.
Once you've found an opportunity that suits your interests, prepare and submit your application. This may include a short form, your resume, and possibly a cover letter explaining your motivation. Some organizations may conduct background checks or interviews as part of their selection process.
After acceptance, attend any orientation sessions or training workshops to familiarize yourself with the organization's goals, policies, and safety guidelines. This will prepare you to make the most of your volunteer experience.
